Default OT-Accident report

Several years ago there was a severe accident on a highway near me that I'm very familiar with. I tripped over the NTSB's report today that thought that some board members might find it of interest. Guess it makes a pretty good case for wearking your seatbelt.

As a follow up, during the report there was brief statement that the area was open and resulted in drifting. This past year a large number of bushes and pines were planted along Hwy K to act as the natural snow fence. If anybody ever travels Hwy 41 just north of Slinger and notices these plantings they'll now know the story behind them.

Tim, I remember that accident real well. What a shame it claimed that many lives.

Always wear my seatbelt and insist that the kids do too.

I'll read up on that report when I have a little free time

Please do HP. The report is very clear in who was lying, who was at fault, and that most of the occupants were killed because they didn't have their belts on.

Yup... I'd been dead 10 years ago from a car crash if I wasn't wearing one. Did a cartwheel at 70+ miles an hour (off a ravine) in a 5.0 liter mustang. Had rope burn across my chest from the seat belt. Wouldn't have had a scratch except the roof and door frame came down on my head. Wild ride. I hate goverment mandates, but this one save my ass!!

Devoted seat belt wearer,

BT

To give you an idea of the scope of impact...the rear passenger of the van sufferend a 50% amputation of his shoulder...presumably from the seat belt that his arm was looped through!
