1) There are two kinds of Poker Runs.
I classify them as "Big Dick" and "Blue Collar" when I describe them in conversations with friends.
The former is usually dominated by $400K+ boats, with lots of big rigs, support vehicles, a 'village or paddock' for PR Headquarters, and is usually a higher entry fee over $500/boat.
The latter is usually attended by the 'average joe' boater sans all of the aforementioned and is usually a bit more local crowd.
I personally saw one poker run make the switch from the BC to BD, and it killed the event. It does not exist any longer.
Personally, I enjoy both of these types of events; for different reasons at different times.
2) Top of my list; of which I have attended in the past and would definitely attend again:
Miami Boat Show FPC run
Smith Mountain Lake. VA http://smlba.com/index.php/poker-run
Desert Storm PR, Lake Havasu, AZ
Jacksonville River Rally, FL http://www.jaxriverrallypokerrun.com/
Boyne Thunder, MI
Poker Run for a Cure, Norfolk, VA http://www.mapacharity.org/
Destin PR/Boat Week, FPC run
Key West FPC run
Runs that have my interest for future:
1000 Islands, NY
Tickfaw 200, LA
Lake Lanier, GA

^^^^ examples of what Brian is somewhat along the same lines as to my thinking about PR's.
IMO TOC (Texas outlaw Challenge ) is over rated and I live in the state. I would much rather attend or partake in the Buffalo PR, Boyne Thunder, 1000 Islands and Key West. Lake Lanier sounds good to because I believe it is the largest attended PR. I guess they had 300 or over attend.

Saw some pics of you running and hope I get to see her up close one day.
We spent New Years in Charleston and loved it although I really wanted to be at the fun run. Boat looked great as well as the truck. Glad you had fun and all went well!

Which LOTO run is everyone referring too? I am guessing the Shootout Poker run? Don't forget about the Midwest Boat Party Poker Run at the end of June. I personally like it better then the shootout run. Seems to be better organized and the group stays together better then the shootout run.. and it happens to fall on my birthday weekend !
