When the Bravo drive was developed it was never inteneded for over 400HP and to run 4, 5, or even 6 Blade props.
A lot of people got out of boating because of that drive.

is it the power that kills bravo's or rough water? surely my station wagon of a boat with it's combo is in no danger? i mean it's got 500 hours on the drive, so far.

It is not just one thing that kills a bravo, load, shock load, lack of maintenance, just wear in general...etc. Pushing a 38ft boat at 80 for long runs is even tough on them.

ITS, doesn't matter....Stellings boxes, since there's no rubber coupler used with them, some claim is a problem.

If it goes up in the X with the box or a shorty and makes a surfacing situation, it can have an effect. The prop/s can come out of the water momentarily in relatively small chop causing a shock load condition.

One example was a friends 27 or 29 fountain (cant remember which) that he had put a imco shorty on, he was going through a couple a year, went back to what came right from fountain and his problems went away.
