You never know if there is a market or resale till its done and the numbers are up really. Will be interesting to see.
I would bet that it would hit 120 mph fully loaded with Quads

I would be happy at low 100's and twins if I was them. I like the direction of this build and would not want quads.. .just my .02

Opinions.....we all have them and none are wrong.

in all seriousness if the boat can run 100 mph loaded at that size it should handle the rough water great and be fuel efficient , that would be a great thing

The insurance would be cheap on a sub-100 mph cat!

Just wonder if the hull will pack enough air at the lower speeds. Worst come to worst, if it fails then yank the OB's and install I/O power!

A friends 36 Skater ran 160 mph everyday. Running in 3's with occasional 5's at 90 to 110 mph was the best drive ever for me in his cat. I would have been happy with his 36 if it only ran 110 in the rough. The 368 will be a nice trouble free package that I bet will run 110+ setup. I am happy he is building this so we can see how it performs. A triple 400 Verado 368 would be cool also. We will see.

Over 30ft on a cat, twin OBs start losing their appeal. Then when you begin adding more motors it just goes away from the simplicity, low maintenance benefits. Drop in some I/Os and then it's just a matter of how much HP do you want to run with. Balance will be better too. My .02

they are hoping 5,000-5,500 weight finished
what was the finished weight of the 318 that hit 114
the pads on this 1 was shortened to 34.6 but still wide/larger tunnel
so at lower speeds (low 100s) less lift
this will help some but I believe is the same mph loss window
as a narrow 28 to the 308 wide body
and more if the weight is drastically different will be less top end
great that they are trying different builds for these heavier 400s
if built transom from scratch to hold a 3rd would be easy with smart system to add another
if speed to money spent is not here

I disagree that the larger outboard cat is loosing appeal. I think there is a bunch of guys out there like me that cannot quite afford the big I/o package. I like doing all the work myself and boat in salt water. Cleaning an the IO package, service etc is a lot more $$$ and work. Not to mention the insurance. If they can get these boats to run in the teens, accelerate good and have a 5yr warranty on pump gas not a bad deal.
Seems like there are quite a few new o/b cats coming with the 34' MTI. The Skater will be 34' also from what I was told, Doug Wright has new pleasure boat being rigged currently. Smart Marine building new model also.
Steve's 31 weighed 5500lbs. The bigger boat does not necessarily mean it will go slower. The 28' Skater was faster than the 24 power for power. If Pete puts his mind to it you never know!

Well said, time will tell. As long as you can cruise comfortly around 90 mph guys will love these types of boats.
