Interesting, the coating we use is sprayed on and it's only about .020 thick but adds nearly 4lbs to a set of headers.

I'd say what you are using is great for your application but not ours b/c it's way too bulky and heavy.

Transmission floor:
I had to raise the back of the engine to get the transmission to clear the floor, so we decided to cut the floor under the transmission so we could drop the engine down lower. By lowering the engine it brings the center of gravity down and makes the driveshaft a better angle. The floor in my boat is twice as thick as a standard one, it has layers of Kevlar/glass/carbon, then core, then carbon/glass, then core, then carbon/glass. We cut the top layers of carbon/glass and the top core out and tapered the recess, then put a few layers of glass back down.

I was working all day and night trying to have it ready for key west but it looks like I'm going to be about a week late. I did get it running but its not complete.
I have not had internet where I was staying but will have internet for the next few days so I will go through and update the thread tonight with some of the stuff we have done to the boat.

Here is a video of our first test run.
