Default Weighted Question??

My friends and I are trying to figure out what manufacturers mean when they state in the specs how much a boat weighs. Does the weight stated by the manufacturer include the motors and drives or not?

The specs on my boat say it weighs 8400lbs. I know that you have to add for fuel, water, gear etc. But if that doesn't include the motors and drives, then it weighs a lot more than I thought.

Usually the weight is "as delivered". Meaning complete , less fuel ,water and misc. junk.

Ya, but is it the base boat plus engines and drives or does it include them? Come on, there has to be a manufacturer out there to shed some light on this for us. Pat??

Unless specifically stated otherwise, the reported Dry Weight will be the complete, ready-to-run weight including engines and drives.

Some manufacturers will deviate from this rule, but then 9 out of 10 times, they list both: Hull weight and Hull+Engine weight.

In your case, 8400# is reasonable for a 35 with twins.

That sounds reasonable to me and I always thought the indicated weight included the motors and drives. If not, I bet there are a lot of people out there towing more than they thought.
