While there are a lot of Cubans in Miami, they surely will not move back to what is essentially a 3rd world country controlled by a dictator.

How many boats in this event did this trip without the proper insurance ? Total Dollar insured 4 boats for this event with the proper endorsement and I do not know if there was any other place to insure these boats for this event. Insurance carriers normally exclude coverage for Cuba.

I think NOT having proper required insurance was a deal breaker for the trip. Stu Jones has rally cracked down in recent years regarding insurance. There was even some talk about having the Club named as "additionally named insured" to participate in events.

I heard they went with a local insurance guy......Senor Silverio (Si) Goldmez the most popular agent in South America! His slogan is "Si for Si"

He runs a company called El Total Peso Insurance and drives a Corvette, although it is a 1961!

STU was one of the boats that had our coverage,A claim would not have been paid if anything happened in Cuban waters and the correct coverage was not in place.

Any news on the convoy other that who had insurance?

Seems like an epic event with lackluster coverage.
