Talented throttleman, nice guy to chat with, this, however, is total BS. Been a huge problem on our lake, even for non high performance boaters.

I rebuilt 3 carburetors last few weeks that had ethanol issues. One sat since end of october, one got put away in December, and I'm not sure on on 3rd but I do know it was used last year.

2 Holleys and 1 quadrajet.

It takes dam near as much energy to produce a gallon of ethanol as you get out of it. It doesn't compete in the marketplace because it can't compete. We only have it because Washington has mandated that it be blended into fuel because the Corn lobby bought enough influence in Washington to make it so they don't have to compete. Given the ethanol lobby's way, ethanol would be our primary fuel, A gallon of it would cost $10 (and a hamburger $20), and Monsanto would be the most powerful company in the world.

With oil in the crapper, it has got to cost more to make ethanol than what it is worth.

The whole ethanol thing is so far past Stupid.
