^^^^^ your problem was that the spark from the loose wire was shorting out against a metal part. That will do it as well. Check to make sure your spark plug wires are not leaking spark or cracked causing shorts, that will do it as well what both of you had / have going on. Watch it at nite or in total darkness for spark leaking against what ever.

Well,,,,,,, I Took it up to Wazzup Racing engines (Smitty) and it turns out #7 spark plug wire had come off. Thanks to all for your help.

that's the problem wire for coming off because of the oil lines in the way and sometimes the connection does not get snapped down all the way. Actually common to see that.

Thanks for the fix update and being honest about a simple fix. Some would not have even posted that.

Post 10 and 11 had good info for the fix without looking at it.

I had the same thing happen to my 496 ho. This can also happen when changing water impeller. Must have knocked the plug wire loose.
