first quote was $1800 for 34 baja with twin 486

Have you tried MD Marine??

I have a contact in the Orillia office that is providing coverage on performance boats if you want to pm me with a phone # and he can get in touch with you tomorrow....he's higher up on the totem pole than a salesperson but he can make sure your needs are met!

$1800 CDN doesn't sound like a bad rate if the coverages are adequate.
