Default Experiences with a Dakota Crew Cab 5.9?

I'm looking into a 03 Dakota Crew-Cab Sport Plus...pretty much loaded up 5.9 with 3.92 rear end.... I need a tow vehicle for my 24' Superboat and this vehicle is the absolute largest PU I can squeeze in my garage.....Anyone with any experiences with this vehicle good or bad?

The 5.9 is a good engine....lots of torque and it has potential with a few very minor mods to get some good MPG......go visit this site and check out their tech tips section for some goos ideas:

http://www.speedtweaks.net

And if the truck still dont have the power your looking for then check out their Twin Turbo kit!!!

I wish they had this kit for the 5.2!! I'd slap that thing on my Jepp Grand Cherokee in a heart beat!!!

HEY OH-ZONE... I don't have the DAKOTA but DO have the DURANGO w/the 5.9 motor,3.92 POSI rear end,w/the towing package...(it's an R/T without the Wimpy tow rating!!!)...I was a FORD BRONCO owner(with a BUILT towing motor), & am VERY happy with the DURANGO (the DAKOTA is pretty much the same animal)...It tows VERY well, is comfortable to live with, goes like a BASTID, is EXCELLENT in the snow, & have NOT had any repair/warranty issues at all(check out www.alldata.com for any service bulletins/recalls pertainent to the DAKOTA...there are some for the DURANGO but none that were applicable to mine...)BTW...WALLY is right, the 5.9 with the 3.92 rearend likes the gas...I'm going to check that site out to see if I can squeeze a little more mileage out of mine...I do have a K&N filter w/ram tube & am running synthetics in the fr & rear diffs which does help considerably... HAPPY MOTORING>>>>>>>>>>>
