Only boating 4-5 weekends annually, including engine and drive rebuilds every 5-6 years, warehouse cost, airfare, fuel, insurance, misc repairs on trailer & tow vehicle, insurance, etc......probably $8-10k annually. Cheaper than a girl friend

It's still cheaper than daycare, though.

Have you ever done the math on what it cost per boat ride? Take the cost of gas, annual maint, slip fees, insurance, depreciation ( the big one), registration, fines LOL, drinks and food, damage, any other things we will call misalliance. Us poor people up north only have maybe 12-16 weekends. Take out weddings ,work, parties, and weather cut that number in half. What's your best guess?

I'm pretty sure it costs way less per mile than when I was motor racing, and a hell of a lot less than my first marriage. Getting to spend time with my family and friends doing something i really enjoy is worth whatever it costs!

When I met Yvonne(CPA-CFP) and told her I was looking at boats again she said "we should put this all on a spread sheet". To which I replied that will be the last time you see me. LOL
Now we have an agreement, I spend on the boat and she spends on horses and we don't discuss what is spent. I still think I come out ahead.
