Chevy's New 572 Crate Motor??

I saw on TNN saturday morning the show Trucks! and they were putting the motor in a project truck they are building (project copperhead) and they talked about a Brand New crate motor from GM and that they had the First one!! It looked awsome!! It was a 572ci naturally aspirated motor that put out something like 650hp and 690ft lbs of torque!!!

They went on to say how GM use to have the biggest crate motor with the 502, then ford came out with a 513 (or something) and then Dodge came out with a 5?? Hemi. So GM not to be outdone has had this motor in development for quite a while!!

I know a lot of people have used the 502/502 as a marine motor even though it void's the warranty. Wouldn't it be awsome to now use the 572!! I know like on the 502 you probably would have to use a different cam and valve's, etc.

Wonder how much it's going to cost???

Sounds interesting for sure. I'm curious to know what kind of block GM is using for this new 572" crate engine? Is it the same block that they are now using for Merc's 496 with no distributor, etc? Or is the block based off a Gen-6 block or a Mk-4 block? And if so, is it a tall deck block? Anyone happen to know?

Could it be built on the DEHC(or something like that) Block??

It's the one that is listed in the GM high performance web site and is the one they say was the old Olds or buick block??
