Default Bimini trip recomendations

Hello,
I will be making my first trip to Bimini heading out on June 6. We will be staying for 8 days. Boat is a Donzi 38 ZX I have a few questions needing answered.

1- What is the Preferred and secure place to Launch and leave truck and trailer for duration of trip?

2- Looking to spread stay out at a couple if the marinas- few days at each. looking to stay onboard..... Which would you pick?

3- any other equipment not usually on board would you recommend beyond tool kit, spare filters/parts etc.

Thanks in advance for any input!!

Scott

[QUOTE=SLAZARZ;4527383]Hello,
I will be making my first trip to Bimini heading out on June 6. We will be staying for 8 days. Boat is a Donzi 38 ZX I have a few questions needing answered.

1Pompano state launch off of I95, parking for truck and trailer max seven days. safe area plus by Coast guard.

2Blue water marina was best back in year 2000, casino built since then on East end. yuck lost old school flavor on East end.
once there rent golf cart for 20.00 buck and explore before you take vessel for a ride. even rent a jet ski is better than ground with a 38'. Oh yeah, one way in from golf stream, shoal at entrance so follow GPS to the letter, going north along west side of Bimini to channel entrance then east. Always remember you are on the Bahamas banks, shallow for miles and miles and miles east

3swap US flag for quarantine yellow flag to enter country, go to Customs and follow there instructions from there. nice people at Customs. was a two story PINK building. then Bahama Flag for remainder of stay. swap back to US flag half way back. OH yeah submit float plan to CC Via Internet before you go.
Bring only recommended By CC, weigh down the boat with junk you will never use.
Good luck Brother.

Be careful having plans that aren't flexible. Learned that the hard way last year. I will be back first week of June. Gonna leave out of Riveria Beach, cross to Freeport, down to Bimini and back up the Intercoastal. Don't need to tell you to watch the weather and sea conditions, but is a long trip for me as well and conditions can change quickly. I found hotels may let you out of your reservation if there is a small craft advisory.....

With a 38 ZX on plane other than on the direct east side close to Bimini he can go anywhere over there to the east without an issue. However there isn't much out there unless you are spearing. Get a good GPS the charts on my Garmin are dead on for the waters around there. If you want quiet stay at Bimini sands, if you want the casino and party scene stay at resorts world. You can also stay at the various hotels along the way in N bimini. There are some nice sandy flats south of Cat cay that are fun to hang out at. Nice beach on the north side of N bimini, need to visit the Sapona, Honeymoon Harbour, Cat Cay, Sharklab.

It will most likely be hot as hell in june so staying on the boat may not be comfy unless you have generator and a good ac unit.

you might want to grab a drift anchor, line anchors are useless along the way. You wont likely need it but if you do its crucial.

Lots of Bimini threads on here, search them out.

1. Spend one night a Cat Cay (8 miles S. of Bimini)......as a guest you can stay 1 night then you have to leave. You can clear customs there.
http://www.catcayyachtclub.com/Club/.../Home/home.asp

They have the best grocery store in Bimini!

2. I personally like Bimini Sands (South Bimini) better than North Bimini and all the commercial crap they just built.
https://www.thebiminisands.com/

You are directly on the ocean, no mile long no wake zone to go through like at the Hilton/Resorts World.

If you are going for a week you might get bored after day 3-4......Bimini is really small but definitely grab a seafood pizza at Mackey's Sand Bar on South Bimini!

Thanks for the reply, we are pretty flexible on dates . going to be a 2 week trip for Honeymoon. just need to be back for Cumberland poker run on the 16th.

Any particular wind direction to watch out for? What is the max wave forecast you would run in?
