Am I the only one here who's old enough to remember when 500 HP - in a race boat - was "bags of power?" Oh, and they ran like crap around the docks, went maybe 50 hours between rebuilds (or "bilge shrapnel creation episodes") and were generally harder to live with than your mother in law. How far we've come ...

Yea, the saying in the car world is that 1000 hp is the new 600 hp.

600 rwhp used to be a really impressive number. Nobody blinks at that anymore.

Yea I'm sure it won't be long until we say "remember when a pushrod V8 was the norm?"

I remember when Merc racing warranty was that if it fired, your warranty was over. Nice to see evolution and progression in the market.

Two year warranty on the 860, that is pretty impressive especially with a 6800 red line. Hopefully pricing will be closer to the 700's than the 1100's. There is a huge gap there in pricing between the 700's and 1100's.

A pair of those 860's in you 44 would make a nice package.

Yes they would Dennis. I really like my 700's but wish they had DTS.

I'm not sure what DTS is? The price or life expectancy would be interesting to know. I wonder if the 860s would be more economical to run and maintain than your 700s. NA vs. Blower? I don't know you and you don't know me hardcore, but I agree with Dennis. That would make a nice package

DTS = digital throttle and shift. Throttling and shifting is electric, does not use cables. A great setup I hear from anyone who has driven a DTS boat.

DTS is pretty awesome. Big difference around the docks / marina.
