I absolutely agree that its better to have one and not need it, then needing it and not having a gun on board.

yeah but bringing a gun onto a boat going in salt water is crazy.....the gun will be a rusty relic after even a few minutes!

Smith and Wesson- now available in marinized stainless steel versions!.... still gotta worry about galvanic corrosion on the copper jacketed rounds though.

Seriously though, I carried a blued snubnose for about a year, wiped it down with oil regularly, and the nylon IWB holster lip still left a defined line of rust across the body side of the gun..... guess I was using the wrong oil (BOOM. It's an oil thread!)

Speedracer,

For a Smith & Wesson you absolutely must use "Wesson oil".

6 months in Bahamas and Turks waters with a M 14 and stainless short 12 gauge no issues. Have papers and declare weapons if checked, we were all 17 years old. Good times

LOL, I knew it! My gunshot sold me CLP instead. Those bassturds, I've half a mind to get in contact with my unlicensed law counselor and sue that shop for "treble damages".
