Mike S. & Mitch Stellin, I just bought a 2000 T-cat with 500 miles on it. I am a tried and true Polaris man but I stole this thing. So now that I have it, It might as well go fast. What works on these things. Here is what I planned to buy right away - Power Breather, D&D timing key(? which one for trail gas?), clutching, gearing, reeds????. The sled has reverse which the previous owner had installed at the dealer before he picked it up. Will this reverse system take much abuse? If not I will sell it and go back to stock. I'm gonna look goofy riding this thing in my Polaris clothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW, my 3 previous sleds were a 2000 XCR HTG 1000, 98 XC 700, 97 1000 HTG Storm. I didn't ride last year, this was a cheap way to get back inot a fast sled.

Leave it stock. Maybe the breather. Take the reverse out if you are heavy on the gas. They have to put in a smaller gear to get the reverse to fit in. The bottom end is good but the top is slow. My buddy had a 1999 T-Cat and went tru 4 chaincases before I told him no more tows until he does. I could walk him all day. There is so much power you will hardly use it. Example. 100mph is a little over half throttle. I have the .375 snow pro track with no studs. I ride in the UP only so there is no need for them. Mine is a 2000 with over 6000 miles and it has NEVER failed me. One jackshaft bearing that was fixed in 1/2 hour last year but that is it. The best part is the counterbalanced engine and the short stroke. Makes them bulletproof. I would ride it before you mess with it, there is plenty of power and all those kits do is raise the RPMs and lean things out. Millions of dollars of R&D out the door.
