Question for Florida Brokers & Dealers
Thank you in advance for any feedback on the question for those who sell new or used powerboats to retail consumers in Florida.
Do you provide the customer with a title and registration or does customer go to DMV/Tax Collector on their own? If you are providing the title & tags do you use Titletec or similar EFS online product or do you go to local DMV/Tax Collector Office to complete the transfer of ownership?
I work with a private full-service auto title agency that serves auto dealers and wonder if the service would benefit the powerboat guys. Auto dealers provide the title, client' poa, client info, existing tag #, etc; we fill in the title assignments, title application request form, add liens if needed, and process transaction producing your title and registration tags. Would it be worth a nominal service charge to eliminate filling out the forms and avoiding a trip to the DMV?
Thanks,
Rick

Well in South Flariduh you never pay off the existing loan, write a new loan for the new buyer then let them figure it out later. Always keep the sales tax then tell the buyer the paperwork is being processed (this is atleast a 90-120 stall tactic, they have the new boat so they are enjoying it), then tell the seller that the loan should be paid off any day now. Do all of the above for trailers too! Then when things are getting "too hot" with the local authorities fire your receptionist and say she screwed everything up, that buys you more time. When things are really coming to an end, sell your boat dealership to someone else and change jobs.
