Default 502 oil capacity with relocated oil filter

What should capacity be? New purchase and when cold and level ground dipstick shows about 2 inches above full mark? I took to local dealer to get shift cable adjusted and they told me it didn't have any oil showing on dipstick....then they tell me they checked it running. lol I know right....thanks

I think thats the wrong dip stick, unless its way over full, I think a gen 6 502 has an 8 or 9 qrt + the filter, lines and cooler

Checking it while running ?? find a different shop......

Actually , the best time to check it is when airborn just after launching off a big wave. If you land before you see the oil level, do it again.

Is it a Merc 502???? If so, it holds 8 qts if 100% empty. 7.5 qts is what gets me to the full mark when I do an oil change on my 502mpi's.

Check the oil with engine level. This is the same as it would be sitting at rest in the water.
