Thanks for the replies, have flushed the entire system, looked for the "oil temp sensor" to no avail, but will throw it back in this weekend , take the digital heat gun and see if I can sort this out. Just a pia little deal cause it runs flawlessly, water temps are fine and steady as a rock, no way one can be off and the other not bothered in the least.
Anynone has a pic of a 525 EFI on the floor showing the back side, would love to see it!

the OEM service manuals will be your best source and for boat owners whom work on their own apps. there is 4 different manuals that goes by engine serial numbers for the HP 525. . 2 mechanical and 2 diagnostic service manuals. It is very important to use the manuals that pertains to your engine serial number.
Soon I will dig out some more Merc racing service manuals to go up for sale. .

RaggedEdge,
I hope I'm not stating the obvious - part number 4 in the link BUP provide - is called Sensor: Coolant temperature, but from the diagram looks like it plugs into the oil system and not a water jacket. That sensor, installed just above the filter pad on the block should be your oil temp sensor.
The coolant temp sensor should be located on or near the crossover - part number 34 on the closed cooling system components drawing.
Easiest way to find out - pull the sensor and see what comes out of the hole.

Yes its number 4 in the diagram. coolant temp sensor listed - what it is --- just a sensor to read fluid temps. -
Posting the diagram link only --- I was just getting people to think since the OP mentioned he was all over the engine and could not find it, Also I even gave out the 2 wire connection color codes to see if that would help for whomever.
