Today I tried to get to another dealer but they refused to work on my truck since another dealer has worked on it!!!! I can not win!!!

Just a quick THANK YOU to all the OSO crew that has called today and offered thier help. It gives me hope. HOWEVER I have basically accepted the fact that I could have to buy a tranny on my own dime. If that is the case you better believe that I will NOT be buying a Ford Tranny to do this and I WILL NOT ever buy another Ford Truck. I will have the satisfaction of knowing the tranny will not blow after the guy I will hire is done with it. HOWEVER he charges about 4 grand to do it!!!! Life time warrantee however with out any restriction to power, torque or mods to the truck. :D

It was good to talk to you tonight. I'll give Jaime your number and she'll call you on Monday. I hope she can help you with this. At the worst, she can put you into a '03 at a good deal and bury Ford Motor Co. with the issue.

Marc thanks man. If she wants to I will drive the truck down and let them give it a try. I am not unwilling to let another dealer work on it and try a repair but I just want to see that if it does not work that there is some end to this ya know what I mean.... Read up on the Lemon laws in your state. It sounds like you have an open and shut case against Ford. You will probably be asked if you want the vehicle repaired, replaced, or a refund. You don't need a lawyer.

The Louisiana BBB conducts the arbitration hearing with a volunteer and you just simply have to provide proof that the dealer(s) attempted to repair the same problem 3 times or more (your state laws may be different). Also in Louisiana the vehicle is a lemon if it spends a cumulative total of 30 days or more in the shop for any different problems. The problems must affect driveability- squeaks and rattles don't count.

Do you really want to hang on to a truck that may require 10 or 20 transmission rebuilds in it's lifetime??? And if you get it rebuilt by an independent shop, the nice folks at the dealership will report it to the warranty police.

The dealership I dealt with had the same overall attutude.

Hey, Maybe Ford can put a crashbox in it .....

The latest update is that the truck is going to another dealer that has a tranny "specialist" (who was working on my truck the last 6 times :(. ) They will take a look and see what is up. They are going to do everything that they can to get the truck repaired for me with a new tranny but of course there are no guarantees. I said ok I will give you one more chance with this. SO on the 11th it goes in for repair.

I have not read every post here but as a BMW service manager giving you the inside line you need to stop dealing with the dealer and call Ford's 1-800 # for customer assistance. The dealer is obviously not willing to help so get a case started with customer service at Ford. Keep the pressure on them. Don't back down. Remeber the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Jon, it is really a shame you are having this problem. I don't have an answer for your dilema. I do know in our area the dealers will replace the transmissions when they run into these problems. I have many friends with the PSDs and one in particular had 3 replaced within 10000 miles(he is very abusive on equipment). Unfortunately your only recourse sounds like arbitration or possibly finding a compliant dealer. Good luck and hopefully you will find resolve.

Been there with a brand new Corvette I purchased from a MA dealer in 1999. First year for the ZF 6 speed tranny and I purchased one of the first off the line. The ZF had an aluminum bell housing and the factory had not yet fully come up the learning curve on aluminum vs. cast iron and had a tendency to over torque the drain plug. Make a long story short...satisfaction was only possible through GM. As has been said previously on the thread the dealer doesn't make the ultimate descision, unless they decide to do it on their own dime, which they won't. I sent a fax to the local tech. rep, Roger Smith (then pres. of GM) and the Director of the state office of Consumer Affairs. I got a phone call at work one day from Smiths Exec. assistant who gave me a name and number to call. After that I had the dealer service manager call and ask what I had done...my tranny was gonna be airfreighted out from the warehouse the next day. I told them to keep the tranny cut me a check instead for the car and they did.

Perseverance Jon....keep pushing and you will prevail.
