I need some cheap boxes to ship my props any idea's....?

try some plywood and screws. this is a fool proof way to ship props without damage. unless you have some merc. prop boxes. u p s has damaged alot of props that were not packaged correctly. if they are worth the money , protect them.

There are a few boxes I recommend to ship props in. As we know shipping can be brutal for props but there are a few boxes on the market today specifically designed to withstand the woes of shipping. What type of props are you shipping (Diameter is important for selecting the proper cases) I carry prop cases for this purpose. What is the price range you would like to stay within? I worked a for UPS for 6 years. You don't want to know what happens (on occasion) in the sorting hubs.
Pack them to withstand a 4 foot drop AT LEAST.
OVER insure them.

You might try strapping the prop into a plastic milk crate and putting that in a box.

On the brighter note, last summer UPS delivered my Bravo 1s in the Merc boxes from MI to IL in excellent condition.

Are there any new home construction sites around? I just had my prop labbed. Went down the street to a dumpster, found a decent size box, filled it with newspaper (alot) in the bottom, around, and on the top of the prop, dropped it 1 ft, 2 ft, never heard a sound. Taped up good and sent it. Was sent back to me without any problems the same way I sent it.

Yeah us UPS guys do drop them at least 4 ft :eek: :D package them good boys..

i had seen a high doller set of heads fall off our catwalk, broke the wood box and screwed them up bad.. :eek:

I have shipped props before with regular prop boxes, cardboard with a few extra layers top and bottom with a hole bored in them that the hub sits in.. That seems to work pretty good. Another idea is to take a piece of plywood the size of the box and bolt the prop to it. I would add the cardboard on the top for a stabilizer for when Travis see's it coming down the line. And do insure it for a million.. Good luck
