1996 Welcraft Eclipse NEED INFO
 

My neighbor is looking at trading his 1999 21 Chapparral for a 1996 Welcraft Eclipse (and some $). They guy claims it is a 20 foot but neighbor was told it is a 19.5? Guy says 4.3l Volvo penta pushes a 22" pitch prop enough to move boat 58mph. (still stock, must be a wednesday engine...) What does everyone think about the boat, performance numbers, etc...

THe speed sounds a little generous, maybe speedo speed!
The Eclipse is not a bad boat, its laid out well and is a good solid boat thatr you can re-sell. A popular lake boat, but you cant expect it to handle bigger water like its cousin the Nova. More ammenities than a nova.

NOt sure of the 1996 -- but my 1992 Wellcraft 196 Eclipse (20.5') was an awesome first boat. Never had a bit of trouble.

Your Baja speed sounds about right;) My bet is that 58 mph with a 4.3 was on the trailer on I-75:D :D
