We maintain several 450s (singles and multi-engine) approaching 500-1000 hours of use as well as a quad set on a offshore charter fishing boat that are over 2000 hours of use. Not one prop or lower unit failure. Are we just the one lone exception in the world or are you just talking out of your ass? I’ll go with the latter.

I'd be curious to see the performance comparison of the quint 400hp or 450R vs the quad 600hp

Well there it is! N/A and runs on 87 octane. That leaves a lot of potential for a bigger power s/c version but I do enjoy being able to run 87 in my 525.

Other than the weight, those would look great on the back of David Mercury's Skater as a test platform.....honestly though, the big CC/sport boats needed an upgrade for the lengths that are coming out

Clearly this big announcement was coming (insiders likely knew the timeline/HP ratings), so that would be just another reason that Seven Marine pulled the plug on their program. Hard to compete with Mercury and their warranty when they are at the same price point or slightly cheaper.
