Help with Sonic 2003

I'm looking for input on the 38' and 42'SS. If anyone seen them both and what is the good points and bad if any between them.
Thanks Rich

I seem to like their cabins over many other boats.
Get the 42 and you will never be saying you should have bought the bigger one.

Depends on what you want to do with the boat. If you do alot of overnighting then go with the 42, if not and you want speed and performance you can get more bang for your buck with a 386 same power that you might put in the 42.:p Are you looking new or used? There is a sweet 42 used in Indiana, I just saw pics. I think it is a 1994 or 95. I know there will be a new one at the Chicago boat show.

Let me know what you decide.

I would buy the 38 for speed (its not exactly lacking in the cabin either.) If you need more cabin then I would skip up to the 45 and be done with it.

Thanks for the input. I'm looking at new. I think the new 525's would get the 42' about 75 to 78 mph. Also looking for good size cabin with all the goodies. You have any idea if my guess at the speed is right. Also have you been in both. Is there a big diff.

Thanks Rich

I was at the FLL show and on the 38 and 45. Between the 2 the 45 had a little better headroom, much nicer V berth, other than that they were kind of close.

Both have a great cabin and outrageous cockpit, the 42 is available with a side by side(dual) helm, If you boat with kids or a honey the helm is great, if you troll for honeys wit da boys the 38 will do fine. the both have a 25deg deadrise so big water is no problem. Check out the way they build them and the size and you'll see they are alot of bang for the buck, the amount of people that have owned multiple Sonics is amazing.
You should get in line before the Miami boat show so you can be boating before summer.

Thanks for the help. I will call the factory and set up a time to go see them. Hope they have both to sea test, that will help make up my mind. I want or I should say my wife wants stand up room, she is tired of low cabin area and would like more room. The rest of the boat is ALL MINE.

Thank Rich

I think the new 525's would get the 42' about 75 to 78 mph.
Any comments on this point ?

Both the 38 and 42 have standup cabins and are huge V births and cockpits are about the same size the head in the 42 is alittle bigger and the side by side is alittle different.
