I just read some of your posts regarding the problems that you had with the 42. If you are still having problems, dump it. If things are all straightened out with it now, keep it.

FT42A,
I see how you would want to do the "Trade", and I'm not trying to rain on your parade, BUT you are still going from 1 Fountain to another, correct? What happens if the 03' 35 has problems? Do you think you'll have any better customer service from Fountain? I remember your horror story about you trying to get Fountain to fix your 42!! BTW, Fountain owners, I'm not trying to bash Fountain, I'm just reciting this man's story.
I know alot of what the trade will do for you is get rid of that "Is it going to break every time I take it out" feeling, I just hope the 03' is a perfect boat, and you don't have any problems with it.
To answer your Q, if it were me, I'd keep the 42 IF, BIG IF, it all is straighten out! 83-84 MPH in a 42 w/HP500 EFIs is pretty darn good, I think! The 42 is a much more sea worthy hull, and the way the Manatee thing is going here in FL, I'm afraid, here in the so-not-distant future, the OCEAN is going to be the only place to run your boat, over 5-25 MPH that is!
Good luck, and if you ever head down to Port Canaveral, look us up. We live on Merritt Island, off Sykes Creek.
Dean
PS, I had Mike @ Hall's lab my 28" bravo1 and picked up 2-3 mph!

42 FOR 35 TRADE
No way in the world I would trade down to a 35 from a 42 in the year models you are talking about. If your 42 was old and worn out it might be different. Maybe. You have one of the best sizes there is anywhere. The 35 is a small boat comparatively. Have you even driven the 35 ? If so you surely could feel the difference in even minimally rough water like large cruiser wakes. Simply no comparison in ride comfort. The 35 will be much faster, but there's just no space in them at all.
Bigger is better here.

Here is the Deal!
FT42- You trade the dealer your 99 42 for his 03 35. I will trade you my 91' 42 for your 03 35. You can run 90+ in my 42 with no problems or headaches. I'll turn around and sell the 03 35 for about 150k. Then go back to you and buy my 42' back for all the money at about 100k. Take my now 50k profit and buy the Corvette I have been wanting, take the balance of the money and finish building the 91' 42 into a 100mph boat. Just a thought. Midnight

"SIZE DOES MATTER"
if all the"bugs" are out of it,
keep the 42', sound like it
runs very well.
otherwise, buy the 35',
and in a few years, i'll
bet you dealer would be
MORE than happy to trade
you into a brand new 29'.
