my parents have a wood stove in their family room an it is great. heres a little tip though. see if you have any local companies that make shipping pallets. they usually sell end cuts in 55 gallon drums pretty cheap. they come in small kindiling stuff up to these big 8x8x10 (or so) blocks and are seasoned hard wood. burns way longer than cord wood and stacks easier to. actually we use regular cord wood to get it go'n than throw on the hard wood.

I've got a brand new stove I bought about 10 years ago for a house that I sold before I had a chance to install the stove. It's free standing and will heat a 4500 Sq. Foot house. I saw it in my storage the other day and was wondering what I would ever do with it. I think the mfg. is out of business but it's a really nice stove for somebody that needs it. I'll get some pictures and e-mail them to you.

Why wood burning? Try a gas burning stove. The company Heat-N-Glo makes an excellect product. I don't have natural gas, but got one that runs on a propane tank. Heats the room quickly.
