Default Winterize VS Heater ?

Can I get some opinions on installing a Bilge Heater instead of winterizing please ?

96 Searay Sundancer 240
5.7L Merc Alpha 1
Covered Lift

Smith Mountain Lake, Roanoke VA
Avg 28 degrees low temp in winter

Considering Xtreme Heater 400watt

Thanks !

Don`t winterize, start a thread on new engine rebuilds now so you know what to buy next spring.

As I just said in another thread - it takes 10 minutes and about $20 per motor to winterize. Why risk it. Power outage and you’re screwed.

crazy not to winterize….

im in SE Va on the coast and stored inside…..

Always winterize.
Brother didn't. Renter of the space above the garage moved out, didn't tell anyone. Furnace ran out of oil. Froze the apartment and garage. cracked the block on a 4.6. $$$

My boat lives in a heated garage. Both engines are winterized.

I would not even BEGIN to consider NOT winterizing at Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia. I'm very familiar with the area, and you definitely want to winterize.

A heater will work until it doesn't. Winterizing works.......

Pfizer is moving boosters and vaccines to the sheep like it`s going out of business and those work about as well as a heater during a power outage.
