My dealer doesn't have much experience with 450R's and I've gotten fantastic advice in here before so thought I'd ask...

The first few years owning my current boat, my dealer didn't suggest fogging the engines on my boat (triple 450R's)

Now this year all of a sudden (new service manager) (better than old service manager) he's saying I should have them fogged as part of the winterization process.

Boat is in heated storage. By the time they get around to winterizing me its usually January. I generally launch the boat in mid April.

Do people generally use fogging oil on 450R's and if so, is it worth it/necessary when spending 4 months in heated storage?

I'm no 450R expert, but I wouldn't worry about fogging any engine for a 4 month layup.

When in doubt call a service center line PBC that deals with winter lay up and 450R's regularly.

As far as fogging goes, it should be more of an enriched fuel treatment as it's non ethanol fuel, fuel stabilizer in a set fuel: oil ratio run off a portable tank if I recall correctly.

The operation and service manual does call for fogging the cylinders.

Not sure about the 4.6 liter engines but there was no fogging on the 2.6L 300s, 350s or 400s I owned.

Never fogged my 300. 4 winters and no issues. Boat sat on lift at LOTO.

On most outboards, it's super simple to pull the plugs and squirt some fogging oil in there, then rotate the engines a couple times.
