Holy cow! They changed the bottom design!!
Earlier this year, Donzi changed up the bottom for the 22 Classic. Gone is the original rounded keel, which tended to make the boats a handful as owners stepped up the power. It has been replaced by a modified V-pad

And the price!
I think the 22 truly IS a classic. Beautiful boat and now an updated bottom, should be great to drive but you’ll need more than my small change to buy a single engine smallish performance boat. 🙂
(The silver one looks absolutely killer. Some interior pics from powerboatlistings)

Yes, absolutely gorgeous! Also great they updated the pad, should be real good performers with those engine packages.
However, in no way an affordable for it's small stature. Definitely not an "entry level" into the sport.

Glad they continue to build the classics. Surprised they don’t have an outboard on the back yet as an option. Cool factor would be reduced greatly without the V8 rumble though.

It is surprising, look how Velocity is selling the 29's like hot cakes with OB power.

Looking forward to someone getting some stick time feedback with the new design, especially from owners of the legacy hull. The old bottom was too soft for big power IMHO.

Beautiful, Iconic design, but I never understood the rounded keel ...It just never made sense to me, would seem like it would give you a rougher ride, and more surface area so more drag ?
I also never understood the seats sitting right on the floor. I had an alky injected v-drive that was more comfortable to sit in than the small Donzis I've had the opportunity to ride in.
Tough to tell in the pics are the seats as low to the floor on the 22 as they are the 18 ?
$150-220K is a big chunk of disposable income, no debate there...but on the other hand, I live on a small inland lake (204 acres) and there are several 22-23 surf boats that if rumors are true are well north of that 150 number, and there are a couple new Tri Toons with big power that are also well over 150k....
At 150 "asking", when the covid supply chain crisis is over and supply eventually exceeds demand I'm guessing there will be some room for negotiation....I have that size niche filled with a boat I'll never get rid of but if I didn't, I'd give some serious consideration to a new 22.
They sure are pretty....
cheers
