Problem with new Merc 525
 

Mercury's newest 525 apparently can reduce its power output in the event of a problem. Mine says it's reduced to 90 % and it stalls and idles a little rough. The scan device however won't tell you what caused the reduction so you can't fix it, cool! They don't seem to have the service manual completed either. So I can sit and look at my new defective boat and wait for them to figure their 555 system out. Anybody got any ideas?:confused:

how did you find out it's reduced to 90% - I just have an old 454 - 330 hp - I don't underatsand all this ne sh*t./.....

You need the Mercury scan tool which reads the ecm. The display screen reads the computer and gives you this type of information. But it doesn't seem to give you, at this point, enough to fix some problems.

Merc just sent out a new HP500 efi to replace the port motor in our boat that was having problems. I would talk to your dealer and see what they can get Merc to do for you. Good luck.
