Really none of my business but being me I will ask anyway I was told by my agent if I took my cat out on a track I am not covered from flag to flag.. Is that true on something of that level? are all race boats rolling zillions of dollars uninsured during that time?? Oh yea Tom, you promised me a ride about a year ago I have a CDL and am just down the road... want me to tow it to Key west for new years and get it all warmed up and dieled in for ya (hey, you don't think I could start a TOTALY serious thread do ya?)

bet there are a lot of people who's boat is paid for and they don't have insurance, my main reason is to protect my loan.

packinair-

Sad but true, no insurance from flag to shining flag. Better just hope you win and then flip over on the victory lap... the win would take a little of the sting out of the burn.

If you don't have insurance while racing how do you manage liability?

I only carry liability insuance on my Skater and Formula. However, I have a TON of liability. I would rather save my premium dollars toward a new boat. I am fortunate that both my boats I paid cash for, but then again, they are not worth a FRACTION of Tom's 46!

So if you flip after the finish and you won, then the race is over and you are no longer racing and hence you are covered?

I can not imagine even moving my boat without full coverage on it..so you save the premium but if something happens your turbo-screwed?

Most boats have coverage when on the trailer and possibly testing. No ceverage during a race. I believe that there may be a carrier that has race insurance on a per race basis, I believe the cost is 10% of the boat value per race.
