OT-Looks like GM isn't real popular for fuel mileage.
 

Here's a link to the top ten least efficient vehicles on the road today. GM didn't fair too well from the looks of it.

I didn't see any ratings for boats.:D

I think those numbers are a little fishey. I haven't checked the MPG on our Suburbans (both 4x4) lately but I'm sure they are getting better mileage than that on the highway. Anyway we bought them for ride and safety. But after driving a Big Block duelly I guess anything seems better.

I thought they were a little fishy myself. I am very happy with the fuel mileage of my 2000 K1500.

But like you said, I didn't buy it for economical reasons either.

yeah, definietly a little fishey. 1500 Chevy/GMC with the 5.3 gets way better than 12highway. Overhead console said 18 and when I physically did the math once it was like 17.8 or .7 or something.

I had rather get 1 mile per gallon and drive a chevy than 50mpg and drive anything else. But seriously, I don't buy all the ratings either. My friend and I have logged many miles with his 2000' 1500 Chevy Suburban with the 350 and running highway speed limits gets 20.2 mpg with 2 people. Not to bad. I have a 1999 3500 chevy with the turbo diesel and get 17.4 on open road running the speed limit with no load and 15.1 around the house. Bad thing is , I can't drive 55.

I admittedly drive my 2002 Z71 Tahoe like its a sportscar...well maybe a sportscar with flat tires. Ive been quiet in the past when people have been stating what their MPG is but in my expirience those numbers seem pretty close to me. Im not seeing much better than 13mpg. Thankfully I didnt buy it for its low cost of ownership.

Tantrum, you are so right. I think they are using imperial gallons and the metric system to figure MPG. I just sold a 01 suburban and the best I ever saw was 16 on all highway driving. 10 in drive with a very light trailer (it would't stay in OD):mad:

I don't know where they got there no.s.....We sell @ 400 of these a year and most people claim anywhere from 16 to 20. The goverment rating is 17mpg. My 5.3 vortech will get 11 mph pulling a 26ft boat. Trust someone who has one for you best info.

Guys, one thing that has not been mentioned is the different motor, axle-ratios that each person has. It has a lot to do with each persons mileage numbers. If you are under motored and under geared and get great mileage numbers, and then try to pull something, those numbers may fall way short of the mileage numbers you are seeing. Each vehicle is different. I have a friend who actually gets better mileage out of his 3500 dually than mine, because he has 373 gears and I have 410's. But pulling a heavy boat, I actually get much better than him. That being said, fuel economy rest normally on the driver and equipment, but regardless, the math is the same.

Wife has 02 Tahoe gets 17 hwy, the 4wd D Max gets 20.2 on hwy
with cruse set at 75.
