Funny thing about insurance companies. They make record profits and increase their CEO pay to $20 gazillion while laying off workers and raising our rates. At some point the richest 1% will own 100% of everything and complain that they can't gain any more. They are obviously hurting because they only own 95% and those last few percent are coming slowly. Now they are starting to claim if you buy a used car or house and the person who owned it five owners ago had a small claim, then you have to pay double because the asset is a risk. In fine print on page 3,592 of your boring policy it says in the event of a claim we will do everything possible including sneaking lines in unrelated congressional bills to avoid paying. After all, anyone who tries to collect is cheating and can't afford to fight in court to make them pay.

Thanks for listening, I feel much better now.:)

Boy you hit THAT nail on the head. In my business, we get calls from folks that have had lightning fry their electronics. The ins co FIGHT us & their customer tooth and nail. Then when they find it is a legitimate claim, they ask for us (or another local shop) to do a replacement estimate. In other words, tell the insurance co what to buy. Then the insurance co. buys refurbished gear (vs. new like he had before the strike) for their client. The end result is the local business get hurt and so does the client as he gets crap products. Try to fight with Ins co, they won't hear a word you say.
Just try to be late with a premium though!!!!!!!
Ins. Co's I hate em!!!!!!!

Another hidden cost of stepping up in boat size not to mention gas, trailerability, maintenance.....I still want one though...:D

Perhaps it's the post names we choose that drives up the rates....:p

State Farm

One for the Insurance Companies Today. In August I lost power on my house, called Consumers Energy, they come out, restore power, say my putting in my dog run damaged the wire some how (posts in the ground). Whatever, thanks guys, bye. September, Hello! $950 repair bill, WTF! So I battle those A-holes for two months about proof of how it was the run that damaged the wire. It finally occurs to me to just turn it in to my insurance. That was Friday, Today they leave me a message telling me they are ready to settle the claim. "Settle", I was Hoping "Pay" sounded better. But I called them, they said, based on our information you were responsible for the power failure, and we are now going to pay Consumers for the bill. Is this State Farm Insurance?, WTF, no arguments, Thank You Very Much! I could not believe it, no deductable either. Midnight:cool:

I have a 35 Fountain classic...2000... model. Insurance is 2100 a yr. Don't know if that is bad or not but, I do know it is enough. By the way it is a 500hp boat. A friend if mine has a bass boat with a merk 2.5 on it that runs in the 70 to 75 mile in hour range. The boat is very unstable and dangerous to drive. If you don't know the boat you shouldn't be behind the wheel but, you can go in and buy one no questions asked. Where I'm going with this is his insurance is nothing, and I mean the liability. I know the boat cost a fraction of what my boat cost but shouldn't the liability be the same, or more. It is definatly more dangerous to everyone on the lake than my Fountain. We the high performance boater are getting cheated no matter what the insurance people say. I want them to take a look at these so called quiet fisherman and let them jump in on all the fun we Hi-performance boaters are having paying these outragoues rates.

Next boat that I insure I am going to be very careful and very specific with the company I deal with. My brother and I are finding out right now about the nightmares of the surveying companies that insurance organizations use to investigate claims. I will have my next boat surveyed at the time it is insured by their surveyor so they can't call you a liar when you try to make a claim. People with high dollar boats probably do this, but nobody ever told me. No more "over the phone, send me a picture" policies for me.

We're @ just over $1200 per year for a Magnum 25 with 502.
covered for $55,000 ($200 deductible) $250,000 liability and get a rebate if boat is out of the water for more than 8 consecutive weeks.Does that sound like too much ? Our insurnace companies here like to tell us that ins. is bargain basement compared to U.S. but looking at some of these responses I'm beginning to wonder.
