Proposed Boat Dock Moratorium
It has come to my attention that the Manatee issue affects everyone who has anything to do with water front property. I purchased a water front property in Cape Coral planning to build with a dock for my boat. Please click on the link and read what the Manatee BS is doing now. I understand that you have to respect the environment and wildlife but I think they take it too far.

You can sometimes get around red tape by installing a "temporary" dock. Thats what I did at my property here in NY once I found out I needed permits from 3 different gov. agencys.
I don't need ANY permits if the dock is removeable (I have to remove it for winter). I bought a shoremaster dock, very nice stuff. Good luck and keep badgering people until you get what you want. Eventually they'll let you do it just to shut you up!

AC,
Welcome to our NIGHTMARE!! Sorry to hear about your recent purchase, BUT have you tried to get a dock permit yet? If not, I would apply ASAP, just to get on the list.
We live on the other coast, on Merritt Island, (Brevard Co.), with nearly the same amount of restrictions as you folks have. We have 7-9 mile idle one way and about a 2 mile idle out the back, (SHALLOW) way! Last year, I saw this train rolling down the tracks and we updated our dock and added additional pylons, etc.
The battle is beginning to swing the boaters/waterfront property owners way, BUT PLEASE Join us in our battle against the $MC!
Here is a link to an OSO Thread about this very issue

Please go to www.cfwbrevard.org or www.standing-watch.org and help to protect our property rights in Cape Coral.
Happy Holidays,
Dean

They've taken the state to court over this and won.
The Save the Manatee organization has a very large bank account for their lawers (backed by Jimmy Buffet) and powerful lobbyists in Washington. If you don't believe it, just look into what they've done here on the east coast of Florida. Specifically Brevard and Volusia counties.
