Default OT/University of Miami sucks

The University of Miami has decided that Union Public School’s logo (an elongated split U) violates the trademark of their logo. Union (where I live) has used their logo since the early ‘90s and their football team won the State Championship in 6A this year (also rated 5th in the country) giving publicity to the school district and their logo. Union has decided to change their logo and not fight the issue.

How many out there know what the “U” on Miami’s helmets stand for? “Miami designer Bill Bodenheimer suggested the "U" idea, which lent itself to slogans like "U gotta believe" and "U is great".
Union's "U" is black and red while Miami's is green and orange:

Bottom line ....

It is a "trademark" and it looks like a clear violation.
IT does not look like an "original" design at all.
Anyone can see it is a copy. I don't think they are being unreasonable asking them to change it. they are not suing them for millions or anything like that?? Are they?

If all they are asking is to remove it, I think it is well within reason
and not uncalled for.

I didn't say they looked different, other than the color, I just don't like the idea of being able to trademark a font. I guess we could put a tail on the "U" and it would be legal.

I understand what you mean.
But look at it this way..at least you guys will now get a logo that will be all yours (copyright it) and it will probably give the school and community even more pride than it already has???

Happy New Year!
