99 Donzi 33 Daytona Questions
 

Just found a 1999 Daytona 33 with 100 hours on 500EFI's. Nebver in salt. This guy is the second owner and he said the first own re-did the exhaust. Can anyone tell what the exhaust is by this pic...and he says 88mph....ya think??

More like 78.

Drove one for a couple hours, 79/80 and had a little more juice and trim left.
82 is about right on GPS.
We looked at a 2001 leftover in PA a few months back, it is still for sale for about 145K on Boat Trader.

Been there and done that guys, my numbers are not a guess!
Great boat, best of luck, she sure is pretty.

Plus the Daytona's often come with ext boxes, merc labs etc, let me pull the '99 book.

I have a 38 ZX with 500EFI and I have hit 75 on GPS at 4900 RPM (need prop work). I think 88 might be a push but not by much. The 33 weighs in 1700 lbs less than my 38 plus the Daytona hull is supposed to weigh approx. 1000 lbs less (Kevlar). Add in the extension boxes, lab finished props with the ~2700 lb weight savings and you should get close. The exhaust does look the same as mine, stock.

(This is not a bash post just my 5 cents)

A lake is the LAST place you want this hull.... they are pigs that need air in the hull.

The 33ZX will handle the rough water well, I am in a boat club with a diversity of 30 some different powerboats, fountain, PQ, Scarab and others, various size, power etc....
Donzi ZX hulls handle the rough water quite well IMHO or I would not own one (I can afford what will meet my needs), my 2nd, 3rd someday in the future.

The number one thing Donzi has going for them in their late model ZX series is their two step hull design, some boats are faster, some are fancier, but when the water gets rough, they are able to run flat and fast, weather the ZR, a 26, 33 or 38. Only one better manufacture out there in my eyes, yes Cig's, they are in my eyes the best! period..
For example, I push 6600 to 6800 pounds through the water at 68 MPH with stock 502 power, compare that "boat weight" on any stock 502 for a comparison speed.
My 2 cents, spent 3 above in para one=5.

I'm sure Audacity will answer, but my take on his comment was this is not the boat to buy if you are looking to be the fastest boat for the power. They are heavy, wide and have a ton of extras and therefore not the fastest performance boat for given power. They do however handle the rough stuff very well. My .02

I respect his input, we have emailed before and sounds like a great guy, just surprised on the offshore comment, no biggie, like I said, "not bashing" him, as most will think otherwise....
The Donzi step boats are great boats and fast for their weight.
And 88 is unrealistic in a 33ZX stock 500 boat as we all know.
I rarely jump on the bandwagon, I guess I was in the mood. LOL

your right...when all said and done the 33ZX doesn't have much competition out there....as far as cig's being the best
