Yeah I saw that boat in the Velocity poker run two tears ago and he was trying to sell it to me.

R Addiction do you know if its still for sale??

R Addiction 01-17-2003 02:16 PM

Bob's is for sale and so is another 26 with twin 2.5 Mercs. I'll see if I can gather some info. ;)

600+H.P. nothing less will get you damn close to 90 (certianly high 80's) in a 26' (280) w/the right set-up and running light. Been there...done that! :D I had 630 H.P. or so and the "right" propeller. With so little wetted surface, and the inherent aerodynamics of that flat deck, rounded brow, and hard rolled chine, thier not as hard to push as some others as the speed gets "up there", but you've got to have the cajones to put that last little bit of trim out! ;) Wilerty...you're running a stone stock propeller aren't you? Also, it's been my experience that GPS is a couple behind radar at those speeds. :D I've got pictures of my '93 runnin' mid-high eighties on a 8" chop on about 2 sq. ft. of pad. No tabs...no bounce...no bullchit...just pouring on the boost. Trim just right, tickling the trim-on-throttle both ways (just a tickle) to maintain the "sweet spot", deck angle 5-8 degrees, just sittin' back on that pad and flyin' I get moist just thinking about it! You gotta know how to run his boat to even think about getting the most goodness out, and nothin' but lots of flyin' seat time will learn ya'. Oh yea...that was w/o no candyazz windshield to block the experience and slow me down. :D

R Addiction 01-17-2003 05:08 PM

Go Ahead Rippem!!! Can't wait till I can get that feeling again!!! Of course it will be a tad bit slower but w/o that "CANDYAZZ" windshield blocking the rush!!!!!:p

1HYPER1 01-17-2003 06:15 PM

HEY RIPPEM YOU ARE ABSOUTLY CORRECT,THERE IS NOTHING LIKE FINDING THE PERFECT SETUP AND JUST TWEEKING THE TRIM
TO GET THAT LITTLE EXTRA SPEED IN A VELOCITY.
THE BOAT IS SPINNING A LABBED 15 1/2 28 4 BLADE HYDROMOTIVE 6200/6300 RPM THROUGH 1,36 GEARS IN THE LOWER UNIT.THE ENGINE & LOWER UNIT WERE PREPARED BY
INNOVATION MARINE IN FLORIDA.

Rippem 01-18-2003 12:43 AM

To the naysayers above in this thread...the numbers he's givin' x crunched = flyin' :D

1HYPER1 01-18-2003 08:03 AM

HEY RIPPEM,WHEN IS THE POKER RUN THIS YEAR ON SENICA LAKE
WHERE ALOT OF VELOCITY BOATS ATTEND,AND ARE YOU GOING.I
WOULD LIKE TO CHECK OUT YOUR BOAT,HAVE HEARD SOME THINGS ABOUT IT.WE COULD PROBABLY GET SOME OF THE VELOCITYS FROM DOWN HERE ON THE CHESAPEAKE BAY TO COME
UP & JOIN IN THE EVENT BECAUSE THAT POKER RUN SOUNDS LIKE A BLAST.

VelocityMike 01-18-2003 08:09 AM

Hey 1HYPER1 dont forget about the Velocity Poker Run on the bay. I heard thats it going north this year because of the rough water for the past couple of years. Buts its a really good time but I am not sure if you have been before.

Clay Avedisian 01-18-2003 11:43 AM

Just my .02 on the speed, our 26 Thoroughbred A-26 raceboat with a 510/dyno'd728hp running thru a Bravo with 1.5 gears and spinning a worked 26 Hydromotive or 28 bravo ran the kilos in Sarasota @89.4 with a one way pass @90.2. Remember no cabin or backseat, race layup construction. Clay

Rippem 01-18-2003 09:24 PM

Clay, that combo sounds like 6000+ RPM. 62-6300 ? My '93 was spinning a worked 26" hydro thru 1.5's @ 5800 and 7.5 lbs boost. Good for 85+ I would think. The cabin in my boat wasn't too deluxe then ('93) if you know what I mean...:D Did you use to have an old 30'? If you did, I've got some old Freeze Frame video of you running in Ches. Bay, I think. Or was it the black '26 "Pure Energy" I think the name was  I've had a '32 that Steve did a really nice job on for me, for six years now. Runs 77+ GPS w/ carb 454 Mags on the right water. It's been really good to me, but I need to move to a 35' or 38' something. :)
