Default Boat US?

i received some info in the mail from Boat US today and what
they have to offer seems pretty good. I've only been a boat owner since this past April and I was just wondering if anyone on the board is a member and if it is worth the money. It's only 14 bucks or something a year but I'd rather not be a sucker

Might be good if they were going to stay in business.

Good magazine too, worth the price! It is very informative with tips about destinations, boating law changes, and you get a discount at the BoatUS stores.

Things are changing if you follow the link above.
Sounds like West Marine bought out Boat US.
I am a Boat US member and will probably renew again.
They were/are a powerful influence for lobbying and representing the recreational boater.
They offer discounts on fuel at certain on water sites along with discounts on transient slips.
They also have a nice website for viewing and purchasing items and I like their stores which you can get items at discounted rates. They also send out a nice catalog that you can look/shop from. They keep track of what you spend and give you a coupon of $10 for every $250 spent.
They put out a Boat Us Magazine that has some good articles.
They have boat loan services and also insurance.
They also offer different plans for towing with the lowest at $14 that would give you $50 per incident including all of the benifits above.

I don't think that Boat-U.S. will be much affected in terms of their insurance, towing and government affairs. They're only letting go of their retail store chain.

The membership is well worth it, in my opinion. Boat-U.S. does a lot to help us out with legislation and protecting out interests. I love the magazines I get, they're quite informative and good reading.
