The best rates I found seemed to come from traditional carriers like State Farm and Allstate. The problem is many agents will not write the policy. I pay a less than 1100/yr. on my 2001 Donzi 38ZX with twin HP5000EFI through State Farm with 1000 deductible, $500 was like $60 bucks more. The agent had to get a waiver from underwriting to cover this boat because of high value. Perf. Marine Ins btw quoted me $2600 for the same coverage

Hey Sydwayz,
Is that Reese Scott you are talking about, in Kent Island? If so, he didnt put me through IMIS, he put me with National Marine in Annapolis for about $500/yr. |
I have national marine underwriters on my 2001 27' baja with a 496HO for $600

Yes, that is Reese Scott. Reese works for an independent broker. I think he negotiated me down to $638 a year with NMU. I have $530 deductible across the board, AND, I have a $2 million unbrella policy over everything I own/drive from State Farm for about $200/year.

BETTERTON - I was going to welcome you to the board, then I noticed your member number 500 something. Man, you are the king of the lurkers.
Regardless, use search function and you will get a ton of good info on this subject. However, I can't imagine everyone will retype it. |
AFTER WATCHING ALL THE REPLY'S I REALIZE THAT THERE IS NO CHEAP MARINE INSURANCE! I FIGURED ON AROUND $700.00 BUCKS A YEAR, NOW I'M AWAKE!
