I have always wanted to do that....ashamed to say :D I loved our little sunfish when i was a kid...nothing was more fun than blowing that thing over..and flipping it back up ....over and over etc ......etc....

Sunfish???

Heck I did ya one better..

I actually had more water time in my racing rigged SABOT than my Kona or Sleekcraft.

Needless to say, I also spent more time upside down in the Sabot..:D :D :D

My first times on the water were in sailboats too. Favorite was the Laser.
Ice boats are SWEET! I got to ride in an old 30-footer that had room for six when I worked in Wisconsin one winter during college. The was almost no wind, but we were still going about 40 across Lake Michigan. What a rush! If I'd been out there longer, I'd definitely have learned to run a DN.

Hey, I know alot of guys blast on sailboats, but I have spent a decent ammount of time in a Laser as well, and I have a blast on a windy day!!! (take a swim from time to time as well....HeHeHe). Actually, I've probably raced sailboats in "sanctioned races" more than I have anything else....Pulled a 3rd in Nationals in Rebel with my Dad a few years back, have done pretty good racing some lasers as well.

Anyone who thinks sailboats suck need to come out on a HObie Cat with me when it's blowing about 20 knots!!!! Talk about fun!!! HOwever, if it's not blowing, I do not like it nearly as much.

Okay.....back to internal combustion boats.........:D :D :D

I was down on the Navesink river (same place as on gdfatha's link) Saturday, and was pretty impressed by the ice boats, or hardwater boats, as the refer to them. some of these things are 100 + years old, and can see 100 mph. Many of the racers could be seen flying a hull (only on 2 "skates") as we called it when piloting my friends old prindle 10 cat. A good friend of mine crewed on the winning boat Saturday. Interviewed him for the paper and all. Here's a LINK to the story.

Hey a river full of "Skaters" can't be all that bad, can it?
