I had a 78 for 13yrs, heard nothing good about 84, is it a deal when you can't sell it. I have a 93 now with 57,000 miles.
3000 on 355 vortech supercharged motor. Car has 20,000 in upgrades, of course its for sale. More than you want to spend though. You can find a deal on a 91=95 it will be worth the extra bucks in the long run. Mine is on autotrader.com if you want to see it. John

Forget the 84 or 85. Why pay for the Corvette name when those were the worst years ever, especially the 84. The Crossfire is the biggest dog Ive ever driven.

I have a 93 Z28 Im considering selling this spring. 69,000 miles, very clean and most importantly, it has the mighty LT1 350. Power windows, locks, seat, tilt, cruise and NEW pioneer CD player. Its also the harder to find hardtop. I looked for a long time to find one without t-tops. $6500

Here's another shot......

Im sure I'll get some hatemail since it isnt a Corvette, but I guarantee Id line up against any of those 80s Corvettes!

All things consitered, In that price range, I would try older in not as good of shape, or newer with more miles.

An older vette is only going up in price, and you know you'll bring it up to your spec's tinkering here and there, and make it really increase in value the nicer it gets.

As far as newer vette's go, I'd say no older than 92, that's when the 300hp LT1 landed under the hood, and it's a major diference from a 245hp L98 1991 vette. A friend of mine bought a 91 coupe w17K on it a few years ago, Perfect car, but it really lacking fun factor when compared to a 92, it just wayyyy slower.

Another friend of mine has a 94 6 speed w/55K on it he said he's looking for 14K out of it "if" he chooses to sell it.

My dad had an 84 4+3 when they first came out, he had problems constantly, and sold it in less than a year of buying it.

I'd say you could find something you'd be happy with in that price range.
