Default Everglades Marina Going...Going...Gone

I just drove past Everglades Marina here today in Fort Lauderdale, and the big sign in front is covered with a rendering of a large condo, with pre-sale prices printed on it. Another landmark of Offshore powerboating is going to be gone. Its sad to see 188th street becoming condo's and now this up here in Lauderdale. I guess it's progress, but it still bum's me out a little.

I tried to buy a Fountain from them, but it had been sold. Glad I stopped by there when I was in Lauderdale a few years ago. I loved looking at their ads and dreaming too. What a shame all this history has to be destroyed.

It's really going to suck this year going to fl. other than the women and warm weather.

Default Everglades Marina

Actually, the developer is going to replace Everglades Marina with a new, larger marina on the same site. These will have 40 and 50 foot slips and will be sold as "dockominiums". The new condo will be built on 17th st in front of the marina. They have a web site at www.theportcondo.com Everglades Marina will be gone, but that is the price of progress ( and ever increasing real estate values in Ft. Lauderdale!)

Default Everglades Marina

Yes, Stu Jones is managing the marina and Florida Powerboat Club is also based there. It is my understanding that Stu and his club will have a similar deal in the new marina.

Go to www.flpowerboat.com and click on the link to the condos and it will explain it all.
