Bertram 32 RaceBoat? Anyone have information?
Does anyone have any information on Bertram 32 Raceboats, or if there are any around for sle. Would rather not have a 38, would prefer the 32.. Have looked at the Bertram Baron 28's as well, what do you guys think of them?

About three weeks ago I came across a 1967 32' Bertram race boat at a marina in Egg Harbor NJ. However, when I asked the marina owner if I could take a look at it, he said "NO!" Anyway it looked like it had been fully restored-I was about 200' away so I really could not tell. It was a dark blue hull, the same as "Mona Lou"
I'll try and check it out again-maybe the cranky marina manager will be in a better mood next time.

What I should have said was the "hull" is the same, not the color. It's great to know that people do pay close attention on this board and will call you out when there is a mistake! Sorry for the confusion.
Stephen, this boat is at Treadwell's old Marina. I don't know the name of it, but i'll find out in a few days.

Any idea on what to offer for a old Raceboat?
Any idea on what one should offer on a boat like a Bertram 32? I'm interested, have looked at several Baron 28's, but it would be cool to have a real raceboat.
I've been told to make sure I go Fiberglass vs Kevlar..
any other things to look for.??

Kevlar was not used in boats untill the late 1970's. It was known as "Kevlar 49". Scarab was one of the first offshore boats to use "Kevlar".I often laugh when i see boats from the 60's or early 70's claiming to be laid up with Kevlar.
I'm restoring an old 1967 Magnum, it was made with good old "polyester resin", the hull alone is 3800 lbs. A similar hull with synthetic resins and lay up is almost half the weight of my Magnum.

There is a gentleman on this forum(I believe it was here) that has or knows where, ex Benihana raceboat and Mr Goodwrench/Mr Recycler boats. He must have some knowledge to share. I think it was in the BOATS WANTED section. Not for sure though.
