Default Fountain throttles, adjustment period ??

Well, the bigger boat BUG has bitten me and I would like to move up to nothing larger than 29', and nothing less than a 496 h.o or 502 mag, would actually prefer hp500, from my current baja 232.

The boats I have been looking at are the following:

27 fountain fever
28.8 sunsation
baja 272's and 275's
27 formula fastech
26 sonic prowler

there seems to be a lot late model 2000 and up fountains with big power for really good prices. I never was a big fan of fountain's but this has me curious. How hard is it to adapt to the trottles on the left, just doesn't seem natural for me. been driving boats for 25 years, owner for 12 and the reversed sticks has me concerned.

I talked to Fountain

They told me if you ordered a boat they could put the throttles on the right. If you buy from a dealers stock you a out of luck

As B4M says. Only minutes to use. After that, you will not even think about it. No difference than operating your cars turn signal.

I had no problem adjusting to the left side controls. What does worry me is the possibilty of someone hitting one of the throttles and or shifters when passing from the deck to cabin.

Very easy to adjust to it. Once you get used to having them on the left, you won't want to go back.

I've used both and the transition is pretty easy. Kind of like driving a car with the steering on the right (islands\england). The controls are very easy to use......all that traffic on the wrong side of the road.....thats a different story.....

Very easy to adjust,

I have a 27 w/500efi and love it. 29 has about a foot more room in cockpit and extra foot in cabin. either boat with hp500 your looking at 72-76 depending on prop and weight.

PM me if you want to discuss the 27 Fever

Ive driven a friends boat with throttles on the left and it was no big deal to adjust to. Only awkward moments were when I first stood behind the wheel and when I lifted my hand for a split second while turned around docking. I would have felt at home (atleast with the controls) in no time.
Good luck with the search and I look forward to seeing it on the river this spring.

Its know big deal. It leaves your right hand on the wheel and that feels natural especially if you are right handed. What is had to get used to is the big gold chain around your neck. Had to throw that in it was coming anyway!!! Love my Fountain.
