Arrow Lake Champlain NY/VT Gathering & Run August 2nd, 2003

This tread was zapped on Bloody Monday 3/10/03 I will start over with the whole description of the run once I get on my home computer Wednesday night. Here is a description of the idea.

I am coordinating a run on Saturday August 2nd, 2003 for fun on Lake Champlain this summer. It is scheduled for the Weekend before the Montreal Poker Run.

Our “Milk Run” we will start from Mallets Bay in Colchester, VT and follow this course:

Mallets Bay VT to Burlington VT/24 Miles
Burlington, VT to Essex, NY/ 19 Miles
Essex, NY to Plattsburgh, NY/ 35 Miles
Plattsburgh, NY to Thayers Beach, Mallets bay, VT / 12 Miles

Nice pictures of all the spots

Lunch will be either in Essex NY or Plattsburgh, NY, we will start around 10 am in the morning. We usually anchor at Thayers Beach in Mallet's bay for fun, BBQ and ... It is a great spot to spend the night, the water is 3-4 ft deep goes out from a nice sandy beach for about 1/2 mile at that depth, we raft up and overmight there every weekend usually.

I have a more extensive description saved on the computer at home that I will post on Wednesday.

Post or PM any questions.

G.L. Harvie

Shane,

Not unless there is a LOT of wind I did 3 summers with a Baja 220 Sport and nothing is flatter or rougher than that..

You'll be all set, even if it blows I'm sure you'd have no problems following a HEAVY Cigarette thru the small streches that would be exposed remember its 14 Miles wide at the widdest.

I think this sounds very interesting. I always wanted to do a run on that pond. I havent been on that lake since 1971. Shane and I only live about 5 miles awayfrom the south end of that lake as the crow flys, but about an 1.5 hour drive around Lake George to get there by road. I will check my work schedule and arrange to get a swap and come over for the weekend....sounds like fun.

Hey Shane, Lets launch around Ticonderoga and make the run up by water

You just might have an "obsolete" entry......... I spent many a summer just north of Willsboro..........on rte 22....... on Long Pond (Echo Lake)....and it's about time I wandered up that way again.

I hope we can keep up

Thanks all we got this going again, Guys coming from NY, NJ might have an easier time putting in the water on the NY side at the bottom of Willsboro Bay or something like that and then zipping accros it would save a lot of trailering. I just talked with the owner of Willsboro Bay Marina and she says there is a beautiful state ramp at the bottom of the bay with plenty of parking. Found this on NY state web about public ramps others are listed on Lake Champlain:

http://www.dec.state.ny.us/website/d.../foe4cbl2.html

(D) - Essex County, Willsboro Bay. On County Route 27 on east side of bay, 3 miles north of the Village of Willsboro. Hard surface launching ramp. Parking for 100 cars and trailers. Pumpout.

and here is the location of the place just hit directions from that page, I imagine coming from the south or West you would save at least 60-70 miles trailering. This is also a very low traffic area if your wondering about safety no population at all around there just ask BatGirl she's from around there and her parents live on the lake in that location.

Otis311,

Sounds good. If it is gonna be really rough, can I ride with you? I followed your truck on the hook last week, what happened? I saw you on the N-way this week though so I assume you are all fixed. I also saw the Baja in the driveway, when is the Cigarette coming? Take care Bob and give me a shout when you get the chance.

T2x,

If you would like to spend a day or two on Lake George we would ove you host you and Darren. I would try (again) to get my father and Dick O'Dea and maybe you can bring George and have an old timer's re-union.

Rich,

You are more than welcome and of course I would LOVE to have Philip and Kim. Why don't we touch base and make some plans. I will PM you my numbers and maybe you could do the same. I will call Dick and my dad right now. I wonder if maybe you and or Philip would not mind taking my father and or Dick, your boats are smoother than mine.

Shane,

Does that Lake get that much rougher than LG ??

Of course you can make the run with me, if thats what you wish to do.

My truck needed some tlc and I just didnt have the time to bring it over to Corinth to get the work done. With my work schedule and having to go to NYC for a friends funeral it was easier to have it towed and then rent a car.

The Baja made it home safe. What a waste bringing it down to Florida tis year. I put 3 or 4 hours on it and never got her on plane once !! Who new that I would be buying a new boat right down in Florida. The Cig will be coming home sometime in April. No rush as we speak seeing that our pond is just one big ice cube. Yvette ad I bought a house in St Petes Beach and we are waiting on a closing date, so I will tie the to trips into one.

The only thing I need to get done on her when she gets home is the new stereo system. Then it is ready to run !!

stay in touch

Bob

OK OK.... SHANE.... " instead of ' was an accident.... but it is pretty funny when you think about it!

This sounds like a great time & I am looking at my calander before I attempt to "invite" myself.... I don't want to commit before I'm sure I have the weekend available... and I would be in a 24' SUPERBOAT... so if you have problems w/the Skater Shane... we can battle together... we'll be fine i'm sure....

They don't want you coming out of the juriatric (sp?) ward to enter this run Modvpsst. It really wasn't an invite for you to attend! They are affraid if you and your walker fall in the water then they will have to stop and waste time and gas money taking you to the hospital. BTW, are your Depends dependable these days?
