I just looked at the Magnum at e-bay, it is in the best cond I have seen a 1973. You need to ask yourself do you want an older boat with twins or buy a newer one that is as fast or faster with a single?? Plus 1/2 the maintence.

I would say a great deal on that boat is 20-25K, but for a little more you can get a much newer single 25-27' boat.

I have owned a 28' Pantera before and I must say that it was an awesome boat! Just before that I had a 22' Donzi Classic. The Donzi was great for running around the inland waters, but just did not have enough room. The 28' Pantera has an enormous amount of room (compared to the Donzi) in the cockpit. It also has a great cabin...especially for day trips. Last, but not least, the 28' Pantera would run everywhere inland that the Donzi would, but it would also run offshore as well or better than some larger boats. There are a lot of great boats out there in the 27' - 28' size range, but I can personally vouch for Pantera. They are awesome!

Nordic 28' Heat.
But of course, I'm a bit partial.

What is your price range?

The old Magnum Sedan WILL be a bottomless money pit:D (speaking from experience:D )

PRICE RANGE?

everything hinges on price range.
if your on a tight budget ide recommend staying away from twins.

however , dreamers cig looks like a really good deal and resale on a cig is great.

I would think Pantera or Active Thunder both are top shelf custom boats you would be proud to own either as long as your not in a hurry. Also the Sunsation 28 looks great!

I redid a 27 sedan in the winter of 94. the boat had no power or drives. I had the transom replaced and put in twin 350 mag/bravos. I put in new wiring new autometer guages, new controls, new steering, new indicators, new k-planes, new aluminum swim platform, and a ship load of stainless screws bolts washers and nylocks. It came with a triple axle eagle trailer. All in I spent about $43k.
Now I have a MAGNUM.
The sedan is the best all around 27' performance boat. Not only does it have the legendary performance hull, but also:a big cockpit, sit up cabin, good protection when standing because of the raised deck, walk around decks, and with twin small blocks I can still get my arm between the engines.
There's a guy on the Magnum page selling a rebuilt one. Check it out.

Saber 28, if you can find one. Owners tend to keep these things for a long time. I would give up my 27' Activator for one of these little gems and I would go single engine configuration. Others would tend to differ on that.
Every boat that "Dave M" mentioned above, hell, every boat mentioned above. They all have something to offer.

Take a long good look at 28 Sunsation's :D

Why not stay with Donzi, they make a 26zx and a 28zx, the 28 can be powered by twin 350mags or a single 502, im not sure about twins on the 26zx. Didnt Donzi used to make 27zx a few years back?
