Prop Question

Last year I used a borrowed prop that was new it worked fine except I needed to pick up more rpms. I bought a new one this year. I am sending it to get labbed. The question is do I need to try it first evan though it is the same size and pitch as the borrowed one? The prop in question is a Bravo1 26 pitch...

ask Darin from houstonprop he did mine and is very knowledgable. I think that bravo1's aren't always true to pitch but I bet he could lab it and repitch it to a 25 for you, that would give you the rpm p/u your looking for.

I would run the stock prop first so you have a baseline to start with. Im waiting to do the smae with a new 26p I just bought.

Definitely! Props are usually different right from the factory, Worth a try.;)

The more accurate your numbers the more accurate your Lab will be! Thru the process of casting a prop distortion can occur in the cooling process. Mercury prop are pretty good but nothing is a 100% a 100% of the time. I would run the prop and get baseline numbers. ( note water conditions, water temp, air temp, fuel and weight in the boat in order to duplicate testing conditions).

Hope this helps and always feel free to call me if you have any questions.

Julie
