Default How big is a gallon?

I'm trying to calculate the size of a gas tank. Anybody know how many cubic inches in a gallon?

Well you could take a typical 5 gallon pail....fill it with 1gal (measured) water...then use this equation.............V = pie x radius squared x height. Or you could believe me when I say it is 231 cubic inches

A gallon is exactly 231.0000000000000 cubic inches. This is by definition and is not an approximation.

It would take just a little over 3 Forty Ounce Colt 45's to make a gallon. (128 Ounces in a gallon I believe!)

I sure hope this helps!
