"Hooks in Hull for Handling"? Help me understand this

Reading my new Extreme boats mag, that kicks ass,

anyway on the32 Sunsation the mag talkes about Hooks being incorporated in the hull for Handling and control??? I thought Hooks were flaws that slowed you down??

Also by "blue printing Bottom" they removed these hooks and gained 4mph gps, thats allot of gain for taking something out that is suppose to be there??

Help me understand this better

WILL:rolleyes:

Think of them as Built-in trim tabs to dummy-proof high-performance boats for the general population.

Assuming they are not there to compensate for some inherant flaw or adverse handling characteristic, speed will be gained by removing them.

Could help on a single motor boat with prop walk. Also will help plane faster.

If they are there, then the boat probably needs them.

If you remove them, you may have a boat that porporses.
